I am also unable to help but notice that Joe Biden is, once again, tacking left at the urging of Bernie Sanders and AOC in the summer of the election year after spending roughly the past year antagonizing the party's base, and that worked the first time

still think it would be smart to swap in Kamala but VP JD Vance is the best I've felt about Biden's chances in at least a month, maybe two

It's much easier to think "the bad person rubs their hands and calculates carefully how to succeed in their crimes" rather than "under the right circumstances I too could be the villain in a story like this if I don't self-examine".

Hot take: I'm truly not interested in hand wringing over how much people will miss enjoying the books of men who have turned out to be abusers. I'm far more concerned about the missing art that women haven't been able to create/publish because they crossed paths with such men.

Forget KOSA, you shouldn’t be able to get on the internets without acknowledging two check boxes: ✅ I will not fuck with the Furries ✅ I will not fuck with Romancelandia there would be so! much! less! “discourse.”

It really is grotesque that we have to tolerate, and accept as fellow citizens, these despicable subnormal freaks who delight in evil and threaten everything that makes America great with their sick fantasies. On the other hand honestly the furries can be kind of irritating too.

Not just the arts: In my first real job, before I knew better, there was a mediocre middle aged programmer, and you learned to warn women not to ride alone in the elevator with "J." The harassment policy there was shit, it would have been he said/she said, so it just carried on.

Sexual predation is clearly not limited to the arts, and so-called "whisper networks" exist in every profession. And ultimately these networks always, always fail. They don't reach the most vulnerable and they don't ever remove the offender or prevent future harm.
