I've got a History degree and work at an environmental testing lab: my resume sounds like something Verbal Kint would make up. Rich in cats and books. Mandolin player. Crocheter. DFTBA. He/Him

I am *so* middle aged. Genuinely delighted by signing my daughter up for Girl Scouts and buying a disc golf starter set.

What are some numbers in your field that anyone else in it would identify without even thinking about it, but folk outside may have no idea. Just the numbers, no explanations. Yet. 105 148 210 297 420 594 841 1189

8yo has very matter-of-factly informed me that one shoe is a nike (rhymes with pike) and it's only two or more that are nike (rhymes with high key).

I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone quote this yet, but it's been in my head all day

I sliced the absolute hell out of the back of my thumb this morning when the mug I was washing broke in my hand. So, no, museum shop email that just came in, I will not be "celebrating ceramics" today or anytime soon.

In the end, I did not have the nerve to knock on it.

Sometimes I look at my life and job and such and think that the guys in Office Space didn't know how good they actually had it.

My brain is stuck on this and I need to get it out: In This is How You Lose the Time War there's a running bit of quoting song lyrics as "the words of the prophets". That phrase being in the lyrics to Sound of Silence is either a delightful meta joke or a wonderful coincidence @amalelmohtar.com

Most of us quickly dispose of late-night takeout evidence or the abruptly empty box from the cookies we polished off in a single sitting, but Yoonmi Nam preserves the remnants of her consumption in unforgiving ceramic. www.thisiscolossal.com/2024/02/yoon...

Useful fact: you can approximate the conversion between kilometers and miles with the Fibonacci sequence--1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13: 3km is 2mi, 13km is 8mi, etc. I just figured out that it works for converting centimeters to inches too, if you skip a term: 5cm is 1in, 8cm is 3in. Not perfect, but neat!

Christmas eve, 9:28 pm. A tall man wearing a leather duster, wide brimmed hat, and sunglasses enters a Savannah Ga Walgreens and asks if they carry any french press coffee makers. No, steampunk blues brother, I'm sorry, we don't. It's a mad libs universe

I have had this patch from a punk/ska band for probably 25 years. It is two weeks before my 40th birthday and I have finally found the perfect place on my jacket for it

Ok, fine. I'm going to go get breakfast even if it means that I will have to leave the house *twice* today.
End of feed.
