As you scroll down you first see the Chrysler Building and it looks like a painting, but continue scrolling and you realize it's a photo. Very magical.
It's been a few years since I set foot in the place (which is weird to me because from ages 14-45, I was there constantly), but there's this thing about New York where, no matter how used to it you are, it'll still surprise you like this, and freeze you in your tracks. Great photo.
In the 90's I taught on the 40th floor of a skyscraper that was not far from the Chrysler building.
The setting sun on that building was glorious from close up. Thanks for this reminder.
It stopped me in my tracks. Stopped everyone around me, too, all of us rushing to Grand Central for our trains — we just stood there and marveled. The slanting sun lit up the building like that only for a minute or two.
