Fountain pen sky, I have not yet tried any shimmer inks! What are the most interesting ones? I'll probably order 3 or 4 samples.

Any of the "chameleon" inks from Diamine are interesting. The sparkles do a duochrome sort of thing. But I do think their regular shimmers work a little easier. Garland is one of their best: green ink with a red sheen and blue shimmer. Another particular favorite is Colorverse Hayabusa, which...

you can get in standard or "glistening" options. Their shimmer is very fine so it's not super obvious in your writing, just gives it a little extra texture. I also like this website, you can see what appeals to you. mountainofink.com/blog/shimmer...

I'm a huge fan of things in the deep teal with maroon sheen and any sort of sparkle category: "Edwards Gardens" (Ferris Wheel Press; it has gold shimmer) "Blue Dragon" (Colorverse; you can get it plain or with any of gold, silver, or blue shimmer)

Another favorite of mine (lilac ink with gold shimmer): ferriswheelpress.com/products/que... Just swatched this the other day and it's delightfully weird in a way that I don't think cameras do a good job of capturing; it's a sort of chartreuse-y mustard with rose gold shimmer:

linked to the Goulet sample there since it seems like the closest swatch I could find online, to what it looks like IRL

Any of the Robert Oster "Shake n Shimmy" shimmers--my absolute favorite is Free Spirit, which is a Vanness exclusive, but Envy, Blue Velvet Storm, Rose Gold Antiqua, and Violet Clouds are all lovely.

Emerald of Chivor is probably my favorite, and the Diamine chameleon shimmers are pretty cool.

poison envy is my favorite so far as an ink with both shimmer and sheen... it's a very particular color taste though. i would recommend at least one with both shimmer and sheen, because tbh i'm not finding the shimmer ink samples i got *quite* as exciting as one with both shimmer and sheen

side note apparently the rule of thumb is you generally don't want to/it isn't worth it to put a shimmer ink in anything smaller than a medium nib?

Don’t forget that paper matters too! Done paper doesn’t really let the ink shine

At the moment, I really like Wearingeul Wayfarer and Edelstein Golden Lapis. Haven't tried it in a pen yet but I recently bought a bottle of Van Diemans Gudrid Far Traveller and the bottle can spin, really showing the sparkle off beautifully, but I can't post a video.

Others I've tried - FWP tumultuous tides and bumbling blossom worked well, but their adventurine was pretty awful. I currently have Trouble Maker Polar Lights in a pen too, and like it, but think it needs a thicker nib to really wow.

I really like the look of the ferris wheel press inks. That being said, I did not have a lot of luck with them in my actual pen. Fine for dip pens! I got a lot of inexpensive samples from truphae.

i had one of the J Herbin ones (the blue with gold shimmer), it was gorgeous, but it flowed so unevenly i don’t think i’ll ever try one again.

Ferris Wheel Press has a lot of lovely inks. It’s one of my favorite brands for shimmers.
