It also pushes the children of impoverished people to enter military service. Free room, free board. Promises of better and education. Money to send home. Of course, they soon find out....how many military families need food programs just to get by.

OR fall into crime, fall into prison, and then be literal slaves of the state working for pennies an hour. The cruelty is their purpose.
