In the interest of posting some non-political stuff today, a couple weeks back I finally got down the process of making Eggs Benedict for myself. They're very good, but a fair bit of work.
Eggs Benedict is one of the better things we've invented as a species. Crepes are pretty good too. I don't entirely understand why they aren't breakfast, but they're very good.

This one wasn't super nearby but I thought it was nice.

The Stranger was a weird one for me, because I think the reputation left me expecting something else. It did not bludgeon me with the philosophical argument the way I expected. Instead, I find that I'm kind of unsympathetic to Meursault.

Anyway, here's the finished product, after a 75-minute cook time.

Finished How to Become the Dark Lord and Die Trying. Overall, I thought it was good. Well-paced, funny, and good world-building. Probably 4/5, I would definitely recommend it, but not my favorite read this year.

Tried my hand at steak and eggs (well, egg) with a bit of caramelized onion for flavor. Came out reasonably well, but I don't have the knack for cooking an egg in a stainless steel pan yet.

Made myself a bacon cheeseburger with barbeque sauce and caramelized onion for dinner. Very good, but I'm probably going to have to start buying nicer meat and cheese if I want to get it to great.

Finished this recently and honestly it just didn't click for me. Did not particularly enjoy it. One thing I did think was interesting is the level of detail put into the music. I don't think I've seen another author do the "different names for the same song" thing Jordan does.

Finished this last weekend. Thought it was interesting, but overall disappointing. The idea of this, to me, was "find out what's up with the Chenzeme and why they made the cult and the warships". And then you just... don't.

Made chocolate pecan caramels (technically pecan-walnut because I ran out a bit). Overall very good, but I still tend to under-cook caramel a bit for fear of it coming out too hard, these should probably be chewier.

Made italian white bean soup, and it fuckin' slaps. No notes.

Made a quiche. Used regular cheddar because it's what I had on hand. Turns out that makes a real difference compared to the extra sharp I usually use. Good overall though.

Finally finished The Book of the New Sun. And let me just say that while I enjoyed it I have no fucking idea what happened. Hoping that the ReReading Wolfe podcast will be illuminating, because it really is a fascinating series.
End of feed.
