Americans who test positive for the coronavirus no longer need to routinely stay home from work and school for five days under new guidance planned by the CDC.
"Officials said they recognized the need to give the public more practical guidelines for covid-19, acknowledging that few people are following isolation guidance that hasn’t been updated since December 2021."
What's next? Aren't there some more rules we can drop because "few people are following"?
Most people still don't wash their hands after using the bathroom but I don't think that's a reason to say "it's fine if you don't wash your hands after peeing".
I have never in my life seen *peer pressure* deployed as the justification to change a public health recommendation.
Apparently somebody needs to give the CDC the "if all your friends jumped off a bridge" speech.
Ideally they just make it simpler, easier to remember. For example CPR training is now primarily focused on compressions and mouth-to-mouth is optional. Because people are a lot less comfortable and can't switch back and forth quickly. And if your heart stops, you're not breathing anyway
Both.
There’s been a change in protocol from ABC’s (Airway, Breathing, Circulation) to CAB’s denoting the importance of Circulation. High-quality chest compressions = most important.
OFC, if there’s an airway obstruction, clear that 1st (& use NPA/OPA), but 2 breaths per compression is no req’d.
You still assess in the order of ABC, but you treat in the order CAB, if that makes sense.
The decision to provide 2 breaths per 30 compressions is up to the responder. Providing high quality chest compressions is tantamount.
Here’s the archived link and also - remember when the delta ceo asked them to change the isolation period from 10 to 5 days and they were just like - SURE! archive.ph/G4ai1
Kill the old and sick, it saves money that they've already paid into the system over a lifetime. Save money by not investing in public health and showing everyone, once again, that the government is bloated and useless so it should be defunded. Everyone else gets pushed back to work making widgets.
That certainly appears to be their goal. And my guess is that they think having a country full of long Covid sufferers and people dropping dead from heart attacks will help them maintain their budget.
"Find out just what people will submit to, and you have found out the exact amount of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them, and these will continue until they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both."
- Fredrick Douglas
Macron 🤬 made this decision in France in February 2023, over a year ago. And since June 30, 2023, the Santé Publique France website no longer communicates the number of hospitalized and deceased COVID cases.
(And almost no one wears masks anymore, about 0.01%. The French government is also to blame, as they said in May 2021, "it's okay, you don't need to wear masks anymore." - Criminals.)
I'm American, and I left 18 years ago to live in Taiwan. Thought I would stay 2-3 years. Just...didn't leave. I do visit, but I don't ever plan to move back -- ever.
