Indeed! Best would be free numbers for everyone and removing the barriers for calculation.
Also multi-modal numbers, so we make more efficient use of shorter and longer numbers where they make the most sense.
I propose a micro-topology solution whereby everyone has their own ε by which they traverse their own 15-number open balls. However these balls would form a cover of the whole number line so you’d still be able to go anywhere!

The key problem is this line terminates at 0. We need to add negative numbers. A series of rings to directly connect numbers far from the centre would also be nice.
It seems relevant that it branches off at about 3.14. Some kind of pi-line? I don't know enough about math to really comment on how that would work though.
Seriously this is not how hexadecimal works. Although it feels like it.
These glyphs are way cooler than the "A", "B", "C", "D", "E", "F" we currently use.
