Broadcom is in the process of giving the VMware folks they acquired a choice, either come into the office or get laid off, and I don't have exact figures but a hella lot of them are choosing option two!
Dell gave employees an ultimatum to return to office some of the week or accept they were never eligible for a promotion ever again. Half the employees shrugged and stayed remote. arstechnica.com/gadgets/2024...

I am sorry that you were let go. I am sorry for so many of our friends who were let go, and for those who are staying because it’s a job and the market sucks right now. But, my goodness, choosing severance over the BC offer in November feels like it was the second-best work decision I ever made.

Yeah I regretted not taking the severance back then after finding out (too late) that the severance would be in addition to WARN. In any case, I got it now 🤷
