I'd go back and re-read some of my own stuff and see if that helped. If that didn't do it, I'd sit down and try writing 2-3 versions of the same scene using a different narrative voice.

Yeah. My cycling group *has* started up again, but after the route closures that make my life a big hassle. I’ve just taken up hiking in the interim, which is very good, but not quite the same. Mostly ‘cause I don’t want to go into the predawn woods to walk with the local mountain lions.

This is one of the things that really gets me down. The pandemic wrecked my cycling habit which was providing me with a reliable daily dose of liminal moments. There’s nothin’ like being on a bike in the dark, alone, as the sun comes up.

Holy shit am I feeling this right now. The book I'm working on is like being able to turn off the entire outside world and stick my head in one I created.

All I have to say about current events, is -- I am really not a bible kinda guy, but I think that book provides the perfect description right over in Hosea 8:7 And very few people have been as windy as Trump.

Yeah, I hear stuff is happening in the world. Don’t care. I’ve got a novel to write. Another 2k words this morning.

My money is on secret service spotted someone and it was their shot that hit Trump because they were so focused on the threat.

Based on that Boston Globe piece it sure sounds like the secret service tried to snipe someone and hit Trump in the process.

Somehow, I managed to write 1700 words despite being interrupted by whatever the fuck happened in PA *and* Sharon having a bad skin reaction to the surgical glue. She consulted with her doctors and we went out and got a variety of antihistamines. Through all that. Still writing.
