A weird moment yesterday: the room temperature (22.8C) was the same digits as the cost of energy used so far that day (£2.28). Pretty sure it doesn’t mean anything, other than a July fuel bill that will be over £60, unless we get a sunny spell in the next fortnight or so.

It’s an over-simplification to say “private cataract operations have hurt the NHS.” I’m sure many of the “private” eye doctors are also NHS eye doctors, some of whom have 50 week waiting lists (code for you can even get on the list). But pay a few grand and you can see them privately next week.
