Just won a significant decision in the Twitter arbitrations, with the SDNY confirming that Twitter needs to pay for those arbitrations unless & until individual arbitrators say otherwise. Oh, & also that their arguments for why an arbitrator might/should say otherwise are nonsense. decision's here

This is exactly why we built it. We weren't comfortable with address book import security, and we knew trying to import social graphs from other social sites would get us locked out of their APIs

this feature is basically "contact sharing" in other social apps you've used but explicit and with a well-defined purpose and not the app just sucking up your entire contacts directory so they can do god knows what with that data

atproto is pretty cool. i used to be closer to a skeptic but i’ve really warmed up to it. missing features are annoying and the day-to-day dx is clunky compared to centralized state of the art but the big picture is exciting. it deserves at least a few conference talks. i’m thinking of writing one
