Think my isolation is cutting into my joy - all my stress was internal before and now my relief and joy are; it’s all crashing inside me sitting alone on my couch. I probably need to stop living alone but don’t see a good path to make that happen. Anyone wants to move in? Send applications ;)

Now that the relief is hitting I can feel a huge headache developing; feels like my skull is caving in which is dampening the joy a lil bit :))

Of note: no absolute majority to any movement or party, which makes legislating & governing difficult. Of further note: whosoever governs as PM from now til the next presidential election in ‘27 will face the issue of “you were just sort of in power for a few so here’s a backlash/swing, oops”

ELEMENTARY has dropped on Hulu (was it there before and I hadn’t seen it?) and as I’m busted with COVID, I’m indulging. The pilot’s a masterclass, the show’s an A+ example of procedural writing, balancing the serialization and B plots.

I woke up with worse aching lumbar region than usual :( I went to vote for a right wing fuck to no pasaran the nazis :( Now I should work out and go visit my friend but all my energy is sucked into the vortex in the pit of my stomach trying to keep the panic & despair at bay :(

I'll develop some thoughts I had earlier on how make your letter to your MP have the most impact — from the point of view of a former policy civil servant who worked in central government during the last Labour Government. You want the MP to send your letter on to Ministers and civil servants.

This is really important now — lots of very thin majorities, even (especially!) for Labour MPs. MPs will still be thinking about campaigns right now, where in a fairly short time they'll be thinking about being an MP for five years. Get them thinking about the issues that matter to you — now!

Something that's important to do now is WRITE TO YOUR MP. Particularly if they are new. Not a form letter or autogenerated one. An actual personal one. Not frothy. Just firm and clear. Ask them their views. When they respond, tell them how it aligns (or doesn't) to KEEP your vote.

Fuuuuuck the leftist in my own district desisted from the 3-way runoff then did an about face and will stay on (he made smaller score than the 2 top candidates, classic flavor right wing first & fash nationalist second). What a fuckwit!

FRANCE UPDATE: The near-final list of candidates who are in the French runoffs is out. Two days ago, 311 districts were going to have 3-way or 4-way runoffs. Then, 200+ candidates dropped out to block far-right. So: There'll be "just" 91 such runoffs this coming Sunday.

We’re all in bed, Arsène quiet & Charlie purring. I should be asleep (it’s past 4am) but I’m just a little too wired + worn down from this cat worry and oh, the fact that over a third of my stupid country voted for fascists to legislate & govern today. What a shit show. And I need to work tomorrow?!

Charlie has eaten more in several little bursts, has drunk water from the fountain and has now come to snuggle with me, purring, on the couch. I think we’re on the mend guys!
