Does anyone else feel like they had to rebuild their wardrobe after it turned into all sweats/work clothes during COVID and if so how did you go about doing that?
Oh yeeeeessss. I started by discarding all the things that I was avoiding wearing. That made it easier to see what I liked and then to fill in the gaps.
Yes! I put everything I wasn’t reaching for regularly in a bin and put it away to kind of ease into it. When I didn’t miss items, I cleared them for good.
Would love you to talk publicly about the fact that COVID isn’t over and people should still be masking. It feels like immunocompromised/high risk/people who aren’t interested in getting COVID are left behind by all our political leaders in the media.
Earlier this year I had to attend a hearing on Capitol Hill for the first time in three years. With less than a week to go, I realized I hadn't checked whether my suits still fit. They didn't--I'd lost a bunch of weight during the pandemic. Just enough time to buy a gap-filler replacement.
I work remotely and still wear the COVID uniform 7 days a week. When I find out I’ve gotta leave the house for something, I spend two weeks researching something I think I’ll love forever and then buy it. Now I mostly own jumpsuits in varying levels of formality
I feel this. Rebuilding a wardrobe from scratch is so expensive! Especially when you need professional outfits and stuff. Sometimes local LGBTQ+ centers will have free closets for trans and non-binary folks.
Now that I'm travelling a bit for work again I'm back to my old method of underpacking and quick impulse buying it sounds bad but I've always found my favorite clothes this way in surprisingly good deals
This is literally what I am trying to figure out how to do today. I went to a party at the beach and realized I did not have any breezy beach hats to wear and looked like a GD NFL referee in a black baseball cap
It‘s still on my to do list. Just as soon as my waistline returns to pre-COVID circumferences. (Deny deny deny). Fortunately some kind souls on the internet normalised goblin mode so I‘ve been riding that wave. And by riding that wave I mean bobbing about like an untethered overinflated buoy.
I did, but my work clothes went from being suits and ties (casino management) to cyber security (whatever I want). I've kept the clothing that I no longer fit in with the goal of losing weight and coming back to it - I am almost there.
Insane situation. Went with a friend of mine clothes shopping last year bc they wanted to be more masc before planning top surgery. I was like "im lost too, bro. I wear wrestling tshirts"
I reduced my wardrobe quite a bit. I have ~ 3 suits (business formal), maybe 5-7 business casual sets. However, guys can get away with a less varied wardrobe than women usually can -- or, used to. I presume this is still a thing.

The best part about it is you get to redefine your style. Like I used to go for it professional and button down slack stuff but now I just embrace the country boy style but make it gay. It's kind of fun to just redo it all.
A combination of ThredUp, thrift stores, and realizing that I am much happier when I prioritize physical comfort in my wardrobe.
A life-changing tip I received: when you try it on, stand up / sit down 2x before even looking in the mirror. If anything feels weird, don't bother looking in the mirror.
I still haven’t worn jeans since possibly 2019 and you know what? I don’t miss them. Cozy life from here on out. I vote no on a closet rebuild. *gavel bang*
