Double of "helicopteron" (I didn't know that was an English word either!) as 🇬🇷 for wing is in full > πτερόν < (pterón), I suppose the commoner word is a clipping of some kind. And an ornithopter is a "bird wing", ornith- as in ornithology (also a Greek root > ὄρνις <) [Sources: Wiktionary]

Fun fact: The etymology of helicopter isn't heli+copter, but rather helico+pter "Helico" meaning screw (see "helix" of the same root) And "pter" meaning flying (as in "pterodactyl")
