I can't imagine being an adult who pays attention to high school football not being aware that kids have died from practicing in the heat.
It's only when you're really dehydrated that you'll really appreciate how painful a concussion can be -- and in all likelihood you'll be experiencing that a lot in football.

Also, kids were smaller in the past. Less weight reduces risk of heat exhaustion.
