One of my all time favorite albums celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. A metalcore record from 2004 that - to my great satisfaction - has barely any clean vocals or sappy pop choruses on it, but still full of catchy melodic guitar riffs, groove, energy, and unbelievably heavy breakdowns.

“AI” is the culmination of the tech industry. Every time you use it, you destroy the environment, erode labor protections, endanger workers overseas, enrich the ruling class, and make something unforgivably worthless, all at the same time – and it's all hidden from you in a frictionless distraction.

I am just having the best of times making all these new MD mixtapes for myself. Some of the old discs I can't even get myself to overwrite either cause they are fire even to this day.

GOG summer sale popping off. Some proper classics and some modern classics in the cart this year. Bless GOG for being one of the few places where you can get a good selection of games that you can just download and play without any kind of DRM. 🙏

Been meaning to get back to actually *buying* albums, and when I was shopping on Bandcamp yesterday I bought so much stuff at once that my bank panicked and blocked my MasterCard due to "suspicious activity". 😅

I always knew I'd eventually wind up on Linux. There are many reasons for this, but the main reason is that it's seemingly the only mainstream OS that gives the user actual freedom and control. As a consumer, that's more important to me now than it ever has been.

Why the fuck would anyone consider this jackals an expert? She's not. Also what's the point of meeting with her? We all already know what she thinks because she is physically unable to shut up about it.

This week, more than 1,000 temperature records broke around the world. I guess we could say «we told you so» to the climate change deniers and the action delayers, but it won’t help. Human intelligence is overrated.

Holy crap, I actually figured out how to make the button pressable again, but when I screwed the thing back together the button didn't work regardless. I'm not sure if the dome button itself is faulty or if it's the contact point underneath, but not attempting another repair tonight.
Just discovered a fault with the MD player that I bought. One of the buttons on the front is completely stuck and can't be pressed. Seems I may have to take it apart to see if it could be physically blocked somehow. Exciting!

Just tested the NetMD functionality using web.minidisc.wiki. Connected the player via a simple USB cable, installed a small driver, opened the web app and added a music file straight onto one of my oldest discs without so much as a hiccup. I am genuinely impressed.
I got it! I tried inserting some of my old discs that have been sitting unused for 25 years (!) and they're playing just fine with no issues. I am beyond stoked. 😁

Spotify updated their font, at least on the Android app, a couple weeks ago. I really like it, it's so nice and crisp. Anyone know what it's called? #typographysky

So Pentax just released a brand new film camera called the Pentax 17. Yep, FILM! pentax.eu/products/pen... It's 35mm half-frame, so you get like 72 photos on each roll, and apparently it's really easy to shoot and operate. I have to admit, for the price, it's very tempting.

I finally went and did it; I found what appears to be a very well-kept specimen of a second hand Sony MZ-N505 MiniDisc player. Not cheap for a 25 year old device, but I am excited to get back into physical format again. Let's hope it's not just all nostalgia blindness. 😎

Today I cleaned out and sorted all my bookmarks. Plenty of them were so old that the sites didn't even exist anymore. Been meaning to get back to actually -browsing- the internet again rather than relying on FB and Reddit for everything. In fact, they're not even pinned tabs anymore. Feels good.

Been digging through some old files lately. Here's what my desktop looked like 20 years ago. Good times. I'm very nostalgic for the Windows 2000 era of gaming and computing in general.
