This would be like the Irish government deciding yer man who wrote The Boy in the Striped Pajamas had meaningful things to say about LGBTQ+ policy. Utter madness.
I don't know. SF, FF, and FG all made a lurch to the right on immigration when they thought there were votes in it. All it will take is someone with a platform and a bit of charisma to bang the anti-trans drum for a while.
I'm not sure. They'd have to convince us all that female spaces were traditionally this lovely safe space which the history of the Laundries and Irish nuns would rather cast doubt on.
I'm sure it is. But we recently had a surgeon putting in off the shelf screws into children's backs and a psychiatrist prescribing insane levels of drugs to children with depression, so it's always hard here to work out what's malice and what is general not caring about any marginalized people.
Labour is not going to find a rational middle-ground policy on trans people existing, that's just stupid.
JKR is not a good faith actor - how do they not see that?
Sadly this^
They have refused to punish let alone remove extremely transphobic members from their party, even letting them continue to speak on said matters... so the conclusion is that the leadership think the same.
At this point I don't think anything short of DNA tests at toilet doors will satisfy her. She's so obsessed that even Elon Musk told her to stop banging on about it.
I mean, this is the same guy who wrote a book repeatedly misgendering a trans girl, with her forced detranition as part of a happy ending, as well as the perennial classic, “Guys, we should be more sympathetic to the feelings of the Nazis running Auschwitz”
Or to put it another way, Labour hoping to sell off our human rights and health care for party donations.
Whoever thought they were any different to the Tories?
It'd almost be better if they were in this for the donations, but I suspect it's more about what they believe (or at least what some of them believe) than that. It's also got to be a minuscule number of votes that would be swung by this issue.
British public about to get mugged again - having been robbed by the Tories for 14 years the only way they can get rid of them is by voting in other Tories with different colour rosettes.
