GREAT THREAD by Alex!! So much to think about.

When someone talks about whether you can separate someone from their work, I know the someone they’re talking about is a white man. Marginalized creators (including young women who are that man’s victims) are never allowed to have their work considered apart from their marginalization.

i just commented this elsewhere but this is also victim-blaming behavior and you should rethink before implying that you are too smart to be fooled or abused. take a long hard think about what are you really saying

I see we've reached the "famous artist credibly accused of sexual assault wasn't actually a great artist and you're a chump for liking him" phase. Consider that pretending terrible people can't make great art helps terrible people who make great art whedon their way into vulnerable communities.

Ive heard lots of fantasies from my fellow POC to flee America, but they don’t factor in that no matter where they go, they will always be an outsider subjected to racism. Europe is also falling to far right ideologies and brown folks will not be welcome anywhere. Let’s make it better for us here.

Pride BEGAN during a time of anti-sodomy laws. The first Pride was a riot against those laws. Pride is celebrated around the world in places where it is much more dangerous to be queer than here. Pride is not dependent on being ALLOWED to be who we are, it’s a promise that we WILL be no matter what

I hope we all enjoyed our last Pride month in the US. Project 2025 will put an end to it

webtoons recently went public (which i'm sure is not at all related to how underwater they are), so of course they are investing in some nice buzz pieces to generate investor interest. This highlighted line is for those people: investors. Webtoons has never been a business for artists.
