I'm obviously not here to defend the NYT, but this notion that no one in the US knows what to think until the New York Times tells them is just so Bluesky-pilled. I had friends and family who couldn't care less about the NYT texting me during & after the debate like "gah what's wrong with Biden??"
I disagree. I think he’s fit for duty, and there’s been a propaganda campaign against him by NYT among others. But perceptions matter now, even if false. If this perception has taken root and it will cost Joe the election, we need to switch horses. I did not feel this way 3 days ago.
What’s more bizarre is shouting “beat Trump at all costs” while also shouting “dem candidate must drop out” while proffering no viable path to victory via the latter. Shades of 2016 all over again.
