It’s great to see Olympians and Tour de France cyclists are now wearing masks, but it says a lot that society is more invested in protecting famous athletes than people who are sick in hospitals, where there are no mask requirements these days.

My local nonprofit hospital's financial assistance program won't guarantee that applying for disability Medicare through them doesn't conflict w/my current disability application. Unless I agree to let them apply for me I'm ineligible for charity assistance. Seems unethical if not illegal. Advice?

whenever people in queerandfeminist fandoms are like "omfg how could there be republicans in MY progressive space" i want to point out that these spaces are really viciously and publicly transmisogynistic, racist (esp antiblack), and ableist. they also punish dissent. repubs love that shit!

Whew. I took most of yesterday and today off the internet, hoping it would help me feel a little better about things but that sure didn't last long.

I want to be furious about this but I'm so exhausted I can only feel sad and scared. Non-disabled friends, make a statement by wearing masks. Write officials re: vaccine availability for the uninsured & mask bans. If you can't directly assist your disabled friends you can do those things. Please.

"Even though the pandemic may be behind us, the virus is once again surging" How does this even make sense? Try as some might, we can't editorialize ourselves out of a pandemic. The virus will continue doing what it wants.

It should never be left in the hands of police to decide who is allowed to protect their health. That only leads to increased profiling of marginalized groups. Everyone has the right to wear a mask to protect their health without being questioned by anyone.
