I for one am glad the Cybertruck exists bc what other vehicle is out there providing nonstop hits like this
Avatar
Oh well of course that makes sense that the Cybertruck run delivered 3 months ago on the vehicle launched 8 months ago was one of the bad ones unlike all the other ones which are bad in different ways

The most exciting car to own. Every trip you get to wonder what's going to happen next. Will a trim piece fly off? Can I start it after it rains. Full of plot twists and turns. Like a movie. You know...a horror movie.
Fisker Ocean owners would like a word with you…

It’s such complete trash. It would be hilarious if they weren’t out there menacing everyone else.

I'm so serious this guy is whining about $400 in wrap vinyl while driving around a $120k death trap

There’s so much to laugh at, from the insane steer-by-wire system to making the unstressed body out of stainless and the chassis out of cast aluminium. Bruh. Bruuuuuuuh

If only we had a truism about not reinventing the wheel, and maybe even a slang term for dangerously small steering wheels
Avatar
a good steering wheel that does not fly off while you driving! i think its a good idea and i stand by.

Oh my god it's dash is worse than my new beetle's wrt pointless empty shelf like space.

I'm sorry, but the fact that DOT hasn't specifically required default mechanical linkages for brakes and steering is a policy failure (along with every billionaire)

I get the aerodynamic benefits of replacing side-view mirrors with cameras or other such optics, but yeah, it's just another complicated mechanism to fail. The fact that highway safety standards prevent this but not drive by wire tells me that the regulatory bodies have been broken.
Avatar
It has a crazy all wheel steering system that moves the rear wheel the opposite direction of the front wheels at low speeds (in like parking lots) and then the same direction as the front wheels at highway speeds. No what in hell I’m trusting the Tesla computer with that.
Avatar
Honda did that with the Accord (iirc) in the late 80s but their system worked fairly well. It hasn’t been popular since then because nobody really wants it. It’s weird unless you’re used to all-wheel steer like you’d find on farm loaders and telehandlers.
Avatar
Could be a case of “we never thought anyone would be so dumb as to not do this, or indeed to buy the wretched thing” But you’re right, it absolutely should
Avatar
I'm sure it was initially, but the fact that there has been no reaction tells me shit is broken.

Is cast aluminum a metal composition which can be expected to withstand the load of a multi-ton vehicle, and the potential for catastrophic impact? I'm under a (potentially wrong!) impression that it's kind of brittle for those applications
Avatar
Correct, it’s not nearly as ductile as mild steel and if it bends, there’s very little chance of bending it back successfully. Any good impact will write off the frame.

They should come with complimentary funeral insurance.

U can barely get regular insurance for em lmao Tesla has to have in-house policies bc their shit is so garbo (fun bonus feature of Tesla in-house insurance finding every reason under the sun to void ur warranty & deny ur claims lmao) sherwood.news/personal-fin...
How much does it cost to insure a cybertruck and why is it so expensive?sherwood.news That’s about 4X what it would cost for a hybrid Ford F-150...

Was it perhaps designed not as an actual vehicle in the normal sense, but merely as a vehicle to own the libs?

Tbh if I was an insurer I wouldn’t touch this gobbler with a long stick. Too much untested tech, very dubious design choices, only one repair company with very high costs, mercury-poisoned owner driving company decisions and unknown but probably enormous third party risks.
Avatar
It's funny how all of these cars have issues, to the point where the dedicated subreddit is casually asking new owners if they've run into any issues on their new car already.
Avatar
Misaligned trim! I'm sure the Tesla repair shop will get right on that.
Avatar
Avatar
lol to these people with known issues who take the car off the lot without insisting it (in obvious instances like the TRIM) be perfect.

I won't lie to you it took looking at the side mirrors to figure out if this was the front or back
