We’re very lucky in Victoria that it’s not that hot right now. Lytton and other places are in extreme heat. I’ve got my AC on because I’m a wimp after three days or higher temps — and I’m working at home.

So NYT is claiming a glitch made it seem like they had left Threads. So they are still there. I did a search when I first heard they left and they didn’t come up, so who knows.

Wow. @nytimes.com has closed their Threads account and left the platform after days of getting just shredded in the replies for their handling of Biden post debate. Now they're getting dog piled on Instagram for running from Threads.

I expected to be sad all season for this year’s Masterchef Australia, because I loved Jock Zonfrillo so much, but they did a great job of picking co-hosts to help Andy really grow this season as head judge. I’m sad the season is over soon — I’m so emotionally involved. They’ve done great.

I have to write some copy for my client that includes a dog-related thing, and now I get to use lots of dog puns today and get paid to do so.

I found a story on the WWII Late Arrivals Club — ostensibly was largely allied pilots who went down in North Africa, who often escaped capture through the help of Arabs and other locals. (Another article I saw said it included maybe 500 pilots total in the Second World War.)

Went to a guy’s wake in my neigbourhood recently after he* died at 104, and on his wall was a framed certificate that said: LATE ARRIVALS CLUB Turned out only WWII pilots shot down behind enemy lines who managed to escape got a certificate. It was a very, very small club. (*RIP Trevor Anderson)

I do captioning for a living, & a big part of my job is cleaning up false starts & filler words. That has always been the norm at every media outlet. Print media edits Trump so carefully that you would never know what he actually sounds like. Doing this to Biden is a 180 from decades of policy.

Now everyone--The Times and, sorry to say, MSNBC--is noting every missed syllable. The man has a stutter. I don't stutter but I am a mushmouth who speaks too fast and slurs words. I've had to overcome fear of public speaking. I have empathy for Biden. The press has empathy for no one (but Trump).
