This. Entirely this.
yes, we boiled the planet, but it was worth it to make a machine that, instead of adding two plus two, takes the statistical average of every answer to questions containing "what" "is" "two" and "plus" from a database of illegal cell phone transcripts and returns a fake nude pic of a high schooler

Just idly wondering if there's a Le Mans-style start for political memoir ghost writers on days like these.

When the dust has settled it'll be interesting to see what the election results would have looked like under full PR.

Proper PR means everyone has their voice heard. A lot of those voices you won't like. It might give Reform more seats. That sucks, but it also means that you have to address the root issues that lead to far right votes. WHICH DOESN'T MEAN LURCHING RIGHT. FPTP is a crutch we need to cast aside.

Former MI6 chief Sir Alex Younger to ITV: “Putin would’ve been absolutely delighted by our decision (to leave the EU) and so would Xi.” “Particularly since I've left office and I've travelled around Europe, I'm profoundly depressed. Just nobody mentions the UK. We've made ourselves irrelevant.”

Government should function effectively in the background like white goods. But for the past years it's been like your fridge-freezer noisily demanding attention every 5 mins, switching off for hours at a time, fiddling its definition of 'cold', and eating your food then blaming the washing machine.

While you do need photo ID to vote it DOESN'T have to be current, as long as the photo is a good likeness. I've just done my Tory fucking with a passport that expired three years ago.
What photo ID do I need to vote in the 2024 UK general election?www.theguardian.com For the first time people must bring photo ID to vote in a UK general election. Here is everything you need to know

It's annoying that Labour's massive landslide tomorrow will be touted as a ringing endorsement of their platform - which it categorically is not.

Do Republican voters know that Trump basically just played golf and shouted on Twitter when he was President while McConnell ran the country? If they do and they're still voting for him why are Democrats freaking out that Biden might have to be napping a lot of the time.

On the one hand a delusional lying Tory Party, on the other a Labour Party that sends me at least two emails a day saying unless they raise a million pounds the Tories will win. FFS.

I guess it matters less if the one guy was a bit wooly for 90 minutes when the other guy is about to be able to do whatever he wants.

Ah ha, aahahahahah. No wait, that's not how you spell class action. It's also not how copyright works at all.
every lawyer : uhhh "With respect to content that is already on the open web, the social contract of that content since the 90s has been that it is fair use. Anyone can copy it, recreate with it, reproduce with it. That has been freeware, if you like. That's been the understanding," said Suleyman.
Ever put content on the web? Microsoft says that it's okay for them to steal it because it's 'freeware.'www.windowscentral.com Microsoft's CEO of AI said that content on the open web can be copied and used to create new content.

Strted in on The Bear Season 3 last night. If you ever wonder what assuredness in direction looks like it looks like this. Coming back from a cliffhanger season closer and after a delay due to the strike with a meditiative montage, largely in flashback, underpinned by only one music cue. Sublime.

After presidential debate America searches for two other presidential candidates before inevitably returning to Trump and Biden as the two best.

Oh so everyone's going to be posting their takes on the "prison memory brain science that some dude just made up" article for the next few days. And we'd just finished with the entirely spurious AI-edited feature films article takes. Sigh.

People said Greenpeace was nuts in 2009 to predict 921GW of installed solar by 2030. Last year there was 1,419GW. Cost dropped 95% from 2008-20 and it’s dropping faster. There will be vast amounts of cheap clean energy in the future; we just need to use it. www.economist.com/interactive/...
