This is the ball game folks, the authoritarian green light laid out in advance. Congress will not impeach Trump. And SCOTUS now blesses him with extraordinary latitude to do whatever he wants in power. A second administration will not be constrained by Congress, the courts, the bureaucracy or law.
Trump, who tried to overthrow an election, campaigned persistently for his fellow party members to grant him absolute immunity for his misdeeds in office. And they did. If you can't distinguish between "energy in the executive" and a constitutional crime spree, you've given up on US democracy.

915/1000 KC and the Sunshine Band, "(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty" - It's actually hard to write a song this good about moving your butt. Makes the simple act of dancing to the beat sound like a communal religious gathering. You can't help but do as the song commands. #brodystoprock1000

MTV and MTV news should still be cool places to hear about the latest in good or at least popular music and it is a travesty that their brand names are meaningless now. A bunch of people really messed that one up.

“Rawdogging flights” (ugh) sounds like anxiety around not being able to use every every real-time data and messaging feed your phone normally enables and that you psychologically depend on for a few hours. Which is fine, but the first step is admitting it to yourself.

916/1000 Hum, “Step Into You” - Deep in the heart of the pandemic, a one-hit wonder emo band from the 90s released its first new album in over 20 years as if the new millennium had never happened. The riffs, the solos, the enigmatic vibes…it was a much-needed balm at a crazy time. #brodystoprock1000

There was a brief time when I couldn’t fathom that I was as far away from the 90s as the 90s were from the 60s during the 90s, but whenever I watch a 90s film with my kids now I can definitely feel how long ago it was.

918/1000 The Shins, "New Slang" - I agreed wholeheartedly with Natalie Portman when she said this song would change your life; it definitely changed mine. The Shins' success heralded a new world of comfy indie based on folk and psychedelia that my demo still can't get enough of. #brodystoprock1000

919/1000 The Tradewinds, "New York's A Lonely Town" - One of the earliest and maybe the best of the Beach Boys pastiches. A California dude wants to surf, but his family moved to New York and I guess he didn't discover the Rockaways yet. They nailed the Brian Wilson loneliness. #brodystoprock1000
"New York's A Lonely Town"- The Trade Windswww.youtube.com Just as the surfing craze was beginning to fade, The Trade Winds released this cool song in February 1965. Taking a page from the Beach Boys sound, they nonetheless put together a well produced and distinctive song. Hope you enjoy- Joe

920/1000 The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, “Everything With You” - Perhaps the best facsimile of shoegaze-soaked jangle pop not originally released in the late 80s/early 90s heyday of alternative rock’s emergence, before Nirvana permanently grungified things. #brodystoprock1000

Don’t think I have ever read any of Chomsky’s full-length books but he definitely inspired a big chunk of the punk bands I was obsessed with as a teenager.

921/1000 Kiss, “God Gave Rock and Roll to You II” - The Argent original is fine enough in a sort of anonymous way, but it took the egomaniacs of Kiss to make this song into a hymn that is only mostly about themselves. I always lose it at the preachy monologue at the end. #brodystoprock1000

922/1000 Nazareth, “Hair of the Dog” - One of the great meat and potatoes rockers of the 1970s, towering riffage and almost emo in its narrator’s complete melodramatic inability to handle a girl breaking up with him. Guns N Roses did a cover version that’s maybe even better. #brodystoprock1000

i hate to have one of these at all but my big "WE DRANK FROM THE HOSE" opinion is that people younger than millennials really can't imagine what coming of age in a time of media scarcity meant - like, I would read about records and movies and not actually be able to see them for YEARS

This is one of those areas that make people hate the economy that looks good on paper. If the economy is so good why is there so much industry around scamming me out of my money in ways that should be pretty simple and straightforward to stop?
The first rule of avoiding scam calls is to never answer unknown numbers, and even some known ones. Curious? Bored? Worried it’s an emergency? Wait the extra minute it takes for the call to go to voice mail, then decide if it’s legitimate.
Sick of scams? Stop answering your phone.www.washingtonpost.com Phone scams are still hugely popular — and they depend entirely on people curious enough to answer.

923/1000 The Chambers Brothers, "Time Has Come Today" - A thrilling cross-pollination of soul music with garage rock. Bitchin' fuzz guitars that give way to some far out cowbell that shoulda had a comedy sketch written about the way it's tripping on acid. #brodystoprock1000

Such a great feeling when you are able to listen to music you thought you were tired of hearing with fresh ears again. Today it was Marvin Gaye's classic duets, but it has finally been happening more and more with the hoariest of 90s alternative rock hits for me too.

924/1000 Alvvays, "Archie, Marry Me" - A certain type of shoegazey indie pop, always a kind of rock nerd cult concern, has remained as popular as ever with its cohort even as rock's mainstream profile continues to recede. Charming, shambling, and slightly out of focus and tune. #brodystoprock1000

Are there curators that match listeners with classical, jazz, and global music performers and composers on a similar wavelength as the rock, pop, and hip-hop artists they already enjoy? Feels like an underexplored idea that might drum up more interest for genres struggling to attract new listeners.

925/1000 Roberta Flack, "Killing Me Softly with His Song" - Don McLean is all right but I get flummoxed that someone was so inspired by seeing him in concert they wrote a better song about it than he ever made. I like the Fugees fine too but their cover got the texture all wrong. #brodystoprock1000

926/1000 Steve Miller Band, "Fly Like an Eagle" - Synths got a bad rap for such a long time from rockists and purists who wanted to keep rock married to the guitar. But the craftier rock artists snuck it in anyway and made funky keyboard jams part of the classic rock pantheon. #brodystoprock1000

I agree with much of this but I also worry we liberals are going to stumble into another Trump term through disillusionment, unite to fight his terrible policies that will worsen everything, and then find ourselves in the same contentious place we are now but much worse off after Trump anyway.

"do you feel the band Dire Straits is overrated, underrated or properly rated" would be a good Voight Kampff Test question.

927/1000 Paul Simon, "Still Crazy After All These Years" - A exhausted sigh from the depths of a mid-life crisis. The lite-FM groove perfectly matches the self-deceptive lyrics mired in the bargaining stage. You weren't even all that crazy back then Paul, let alone now. #brodystoprock100
