New idea to get the message out: Weird Al records a parody of "In the Year 2525" but it's "In Project 2025" and it's a list of all of the horrifying possibilities of a second Trump administration.

I had the pleasure of working with Jules Feiffer in selecting works for his comic art collection for a sale at Swann on Wed. Worth a look www.swanngalleries.com. Also check their blog for commentary I got from Jules on all the works. If you want to read it all DM me. CC @thielman.bksy.social

Reset with how old you are using a vague proxy: When I was a kid, my first job was delivering an afternoon newspaper.

I am proud of shepherding this digital exhibition to life for #Pride. The legendary Charles Busch selected the art and wrote incisively about performers and production that cover 3/4 of a century. Worth a look alhirschfeldfoundation.org/digital-exhi...

Random Hirschfeld of the day: The Country Wife with Ruth Gordon. London 1936. When Al got back to NY his editor at the Times told him the paper was no place to send messages to his girlfriend after Al snuck a portrait of his lady at the time Paula Laurence into the drawing (top right).

Today’s random Hirschfeld: director Raoul Walsh. 1928

Todays random Hirschfeld is this wonderful handbill from 1943. The drum seen here was Hirschfeld’s, a 7 foot Haitian drum that Dunham liked so much she asked to take it on tour.

I can’t compete with @bcdreyer.bsky.social random theatre photos but here’s a random Hirschfeld I just found: Moving Day for Anything Goes 9/29/35 Herald Tribune.

is it time to bust out my "bigfoot is bears" photo collection again? if your mental image of a bear is a thick-furred, fat glossy male bear in autumn, you're probably not prepared for how weird their proportions can look in spring, or when walking upright, like they frequently do.

Although best known for his theatre art, Hirschfeld recorded more popular music than any MP3, CD, tape, or LP ever did. Join me for a multimedia presentation that will feature stories behind the lines of Hirschfeld's drawings. Great stories of Duke, Satchmo, Aerosmith, & even the Grateful Dead.

Sad to see such a great museum like the Mutter being reduced to showing photos of the unhoused that any institution could do, while doing away w/ exhibits & displays (& videos) that make the Mutter unique. Kate Quinn, the Elizabeth Holmes of museums, is at it again. www.inquirer.com/life/mutter-...

Had the misfortune to curate a show @ the Michener Museum while Kate Quinn was the director. In 30+ yrs of curating, it was the worst experience b/c of her. She is now destroying the Mutter Museum. @whyyyyy.bsky.social did a story about her employment history, but now it has been taken down.

Mr. ෴ could be heard chuckling as he left the North Pole tryout, en route to 44th Street, though I doubt it was anything close to "Ho, Ho, Ho". (art by Al Hirschfeld)

Christmas week on Broadway in 1940 was quite an embarrassment of riches. Gene Kelly in Rodger & Harts PAL JOEY. Bojangles, MY SISTER EILEEN , Jane Cowl, Shirley Booth, Jack Guilford, Paul & Ruth Draper. Who would see first?

Here’s a last minute Christmas gift idea: buy a pair (or more) of tickets to a regional theatre production or live music venue for friends and/or family. The theaters need the support and people need to get back into the habit of seeing shows. A twofer.
