This will exacerbate serious morale issue in Clearance Holder Community. Long been distress at asymmetry of consequences based on hierarchy: Workers treated harshly, rules applied strictly. Higher-ups get away with leaking & mishandling classified materials. Contributes to leaks & mishandling.

In all seriousness: the very idea that someone can take highly classified documents, store them in a public place, defy any number of requests, subpoenas, etc., and then face NO CONSEQUENCES AT ALL is genuinely shocking, and should terrify anyone who cares about national security.

Stepping up my hand embroidery game has made it clear presbyopia is kicking in & I need to see ophthalmologist. Which I am unable to do until i can buy vision coverage (which is terrible) for my student insurance plan August. I continue to delay necessary dental treatment b/c cost even w/coverage.

Aaaaannnnddddd this morning the FOIA analyst confirmed my fee status for those requests with no mention or acknowledgment of other issues raised in my (admittedly cranky and appropriate and deserved) email of yesterday. Whatever, I’ll take it, for now. The incentive structure here is *fucked*

"write an angry letter then tear it up" is extremely effective coping. Sometimes it's appropriate AND CATHARTIC to send a revised letter (& CC their supervisor who will probably do nothing) As when a FOIA Team Leader repeatedly acts capriciously & whimsically & ignores emails #OpenSky #PhDLife

I de-fur my work area & materials but…yeah. often Cloudy, my Embroidery Kitty, will come sit next to me & purr and shed. Heavily. He sheds the most of the 3 & likes being around my embroidery the most. Sometimes I have to do a spot-clean b/c his fur dump begins to enable knots in thread.

I am pleased to announce that Cloudy has a reprieve from euthanasia and will be with me for some (maybe months seems most probable? who knows with cats) time yet. What looked like terminal decline were some bad days and less (bit still more than is good) weight loss than I thought. SO HOORAY!

Am I the only one who remembers Trump 4 years ago trying to dismantle the USPS so as to sabotage absentee, early, & mail voting? I am having some serious issues with things feeling dissociatively surreal of late & I blame fascist memory-holing & gaslighting.

End of day: I will do everything I can to avoid Trump (an open fascist & illegitimate candidate b/c insurrectionist) being installed as President. Biden had a bad debate but has been fine in other appearances so. Biden is D nominee I will, regretfully, be voting Biden & beg you to do same.
