I read that book in high school and it kickstarted a love of YA dystopian fiction, it was a surprise to me cause I read it assuming it'd be a regular teen novel like the Anastasia books! Loved it so much I gave it to my Mom to read. Film adaptation isn't terrible either

Also, Jasper Fforde's Shades of Grey books. (No, not that one. Completely different.)

I like beige as much as any other middle aged white man (which is to say: a lot), but even I know a nursery needs some damn colour. This is a nursery for adults. The child’s needs have not been considered.

Unlikely. This whole Sad Beige design is... A thing. Also would still be real bad if that was the case. Basically putting the ~aesthetic~ ahead of things that are actually important for early childhood development stuff.

well, to be fair there is ONE color: beige. it's a horrible, depressing "neutral" not-a-real-color imho but other people seem to think it's a color. it's probably Benjamin Moore's color of the year for 2021 or something 🙄
