my worry is mostly that they won’t let him right the ship I’m not convinced that a good interview will change the tone of the coverage at all, and I’m not convinced Biden can win an election where this is the coverage environment through November “can the Times keep this up through Nov?” well…

I do not think it is reasonable to assume that a week's worth of bad press can be sustained for another 4 months

not at this volume but they can absolutely sustain a steady drip of stories every time he has a bad moment, which he will I’d really like to be wrong, I am just significantly worried Biden can ever get the coverage he needs to flip the race guess we’ll see how Friday plays out at least

This “controversy” is going to be the basis for a Republican House to refuse to certify a Biden win. This is a combination punch and we need to get ready.

New House gets seated on Jan 3rd before they get their mitts on the election. It's possible this whole thing comes down to the wire and they keep a gerrymandered lead even as the EC goes to Biden, but a Biden win probably means a blue house, thankfully.

This is what New York Times wants to hear and they've decided to try and manifest into being. It's not just bad reporting, it's trying to influence reality by taking a direct hand in the events.

a quick survey of other major papers and then swing state papers show that, aside from the Times, you're maxing out at one above-the-fold story. in the swing states the biden-old story has already fallen off the top

I do also wonder if that’s why there’s little effect on voter sentiment broadly (so far)- NYT et al are read by elites or news junkies, but your average person this week is buying hot dogs or driving to the beach! Yes the opinions of ppl panicking matter, but not more than polls for the campaign

my worry is based on looking at the WaPo app and cnn dot com and seeing this still leading both of them it hasn’t felt like just the Times so far, maybe it will return to that state but imo it’s not there yet

I mostly check AP for news and they paint a completely different picture than the NYT! I suggest people just cancel their NYT subscriptions and read practically anything else, for their mental health if nothing else. NYT is clearly going to be on another “But Her Emails” type of bender all year.

I prefer Talking Point Memo myself. But yes, NYT has shown their hand, and it’s time to ditch them.
