As I boarded my flight from Dublin to Newark today I overheard an American woman ask if Aer Lingus was an Irish airline. I mean, I think the clues are there...

Waiting to board my flight to Dublin I overheard a member of the ground crew complaining that the UK is the only country that doesn't get a proper summer. I now refer you to the first sentence of this post.

Perhaps surprising that the Welsh word gwesty ("guesthouse", "hotel") is not related to English "guest"

I just want to beg people to tell me what happens when we completely give up on the electoral system. Tell me what you imagine happening. I want to be able to see it. Tell me how it doesn't involve things getting so much worse, millions dying, before there's any chance of something better.

A reminder, by the way, that you should vote in any election where you have the right, if you can. People sometimes try to argue that overseas citizens shouldn't have a say in the government of a country they left. This is nonsense 🧵
