(Power sued somebody for calling her a Nazi on Twitter. During discovery she turned over WhatsApp messages, some of which were about her love of Mein Kampf. She also turned out to be using a groyper Twitter alt to hassle people. She is now bankrupt and even cryptofash Compact Mag doesn’t want her.)
JK Rowling, Kathleen Stock, and Richard Dawkins defending her is even better because now when terfs whine about how unfair it is to call them Nazis simply because Nazis keep showing up to their rallies, we can point out how all their top people defended a Nazi.
It also shows incredibly clearly, yet again, the link between horrifying, conspiratorial antisemitism and anti-trans activism--and I've seen more folks catch it this time and start making bigger connections, which gives me hope. (But also...yeah, discovery cuts both ways lmao)
Those texts are insufferable. Absolute shit sniffers. The rhetoric is straight up fascist but why do they communicate like that? Real hoity toity mahogany desk bullshit.
They read like pseudointellectuals, with the usual trappings of conspiracy theorist language, showcasing self-importance and “secret knowledge”. How’d she end up having any influence over people’s academic efforts? The “intellectuals” defending her are cool with this kind of shallow thinking? 🤔
THEM: "My publisher lost his job because I'm an alt-right agitator." "People keep calling me a neo-nazi and a terf."
JUDGE: "None of this is in issue in these defamation proceedings and none of it is even relevantly and evidentially attributed to Mr Turner.”
Perfection!
I just want to thank you, profusely, for this soup-to-nuts context. It’s something most people wouldn’t bother to do, which drives me absolutely bonkers 👍
Yeah I feel like at some point the folks at Compact should have been like “hey so that lawsuit thing… anything we need to know about like, uh, your feelings on Mein Kampf?”
Still wild that she actually turned them over. Sincerely think she would have had a better chance by refusing to comply on privacy grounds or whatever, and she would not have been demonstrated to be a full-on Nazi to the whole world
The date isn't hilarious.
She lost her case and a judge ruled she's a vicious, borderline criminally violent troll back in November.
This event is in response to Tuesday's revelations that she openly self-identified as a Nazi and an avid reader of Mein Kampf, and even so it took a good 48 hours.
