There's a somewhat amusing, in hindsight, tidbit of New Hampshire history that comes to mind. In 1832, in the northernmost part of the state, residents declared themselves to be an independent republic know as the Republic of Indian Stream. It might not have been such a big deal but (1/ )

Even if we want to ignore the constitution and legal precedent, this is just a bad idea logistically.
