I just finished The Red Scholar's Wake and I loved it so much! The ships are people with all the complexity and nuance that brings. The parent-child dynamics are so well done. And the romance is both delightful and deals with shame and feeling like you're not good enough. Highly recommend!
Yeahhhhhh I mean I wrote a sapphic romance where one of the pair is a woman kidnapped by pirates and for whom there's no return to her previous life, and most of it takes place onboard the same ship

Mask bans are evil and dystopian and I am appalled that they’re even being proposed. Wearing masks to protect your health and the health of others needs to be recognized as a right for all and an absolutely essential protection for those who would otherwise be unable to participate in society

For whoever needs to hear it today: taking precautions to avoid catching covid does NOT make you an "anxious" person!! It's not unreasonable to want to keep yourself/others healthy! Anyone who says you're a burden or should "compromise" by putting yourself at risk should go kick rocks for eternity.

This is the counter to "oh not everybody can care about every issue/not everybody talks in public about everything they care about" discourse. These statements are meaninglessly accurate in some general abstract sense but fail immediately when you make them specifically about Palestine.
In case folks need reminding why, yes, if you're an American, you need to be talking about Gaza right now

Very cool. Betsy Ladyzhets and Miles Griffis have launched THE SICK TIMES--a new digital newsroom devoted to covering long COVID. Here's the launch letter, and there's a newsletter you can subscribe to: thesicktimes.org/newsletter/ I trust these folks and am excited to see where this goes.
Welcome to The Sick Times, a letter from our co-founder Miles W. Griffisthesicktimes.org It’s not mysterious. A highly contagious airborne virus has spread around the world for the past four years and continues to infect people as I write. SARS-Cov-2 has killed an excess of 23 million ...
