Also known as Golden Swamp Warbler in earlier times. They are wonderful birds and I’m glad you actually got to see this one!

Prothonotary means, first scribe. In fifteenth century England it meant court scribe.

Always tempted to play that bird in Wingspan because its name is so fun to say!

In Swedish it's called »gyllenskogssångare«, which roughly translates to Golden Wood Warbler. But I don't think that species come to visit us :)

Nice pic! They are hard to capture. Very early in my birding experience, I saw several Paws while fishing in Chicot Lake near Ville Platte, LA. Told fishing bud it was a “Promonthory warbler”. 😂 Also misidentified a juvie green heron as a least bittern. Ski-yok!
