The world sucks and things are bad but hey, you know what you can do right now to make things easier on yourself and others? Wear a face mask. We have to be alive to fight back.
Tired of seeing people despair about how they wish they could do something, literally anything to make things better- but they won't mask to save their life or others. Like, it's literally right there. It's such an easy thing that makes SUCH a difference. It can SAVE lives.
It's hypocrisy through and through. People are only interested in doing something if it means they don't have to put in too much effort or inconvenience themselves. It's lip service. It's not serious.
Someone I respect scrambled for a mask in a poorly ventilated building when she saw me wearing one, saying “even though they don’t work, it’s the symbolism, right?” I replied “they do work”. Her follow up: “only to protect other people and I’m not infected”. Good people acting on bad information.
I don’t even see consistent masking at “masks required” events that provide free masks.
It’s such a minimal inconvenience under those circumstances, and people still just won’t do it.
they want us sick and tired so they can control us. they want us poor and unhoused so they can mistreat, imprison, and exploit free labor from us. they want us dead because they like eugenics.
“they,” by the way, are the largely white, largely rich capitalists from across the political spectrum. obviously a bit more concentrated on the right, but there are so many democrats and even leftists who only heard the last 4 words of the sentence, “the emergency phase of the pandemic is over.”
