FINALLY, a techbro driver for Infrastructure Week. It Has Always Been Infrastructure Week
Newsletter: Goldman Sachs has called BS on Generative AI, and I believe that it's time that everybody follows suit - generative AI is unreliable, unsustainable, requires an entire rebuild of America's power grid, and is most decidedly not the future. www.wheresyoured.at/pop-culture/
Pop Culturewww.wheresyoured.at A week and a half ago, Goldman Sachs put out a 31-page-report (titled "Gen AI: Too Much Spend, Too Little Benefit?”) that includes some of the most damning literature on generative AI I've ever seen. ...

The fact this report came out on a holiday weekend Friday does, indeed, feel like a dump to avoid wider notice. But Ed noticed and that’ll do.

Pennsyltuckio is a terrifying monster we should all be afraid of. It sounds like a dark, sausage-obsessed version of Tom Bombadil.

The southern provinces of Greater Canada are revealed!
It also makes me think about this map, from the data that Where's George was able to generate. It shows the borders across which money mostly doesn't travel, and is a pretty good map of our broad economic and cultural divide. The darker the line, the stronger the border.

Something I have to keep teaching people over and over in the radiation side of the house “There is a world of difference between detectable and dangerous, and our detectors get better every year.”
Avatar
Of course good detectors aren’t worth a shit if you never bother to check anything.

"You'll get used to it, Gumby. In fact, you may even miss the collar when it's gone."

This checks out, much like that third bumper sticker on your car gets you and your car towed to the asylum.

More Ernest movies could help America heal. I would also accept Alan Ritchson giving up on Reacher to become Ernest. I also want to read his biography about this "Becoming Ernest".
Go even more gonzo -- have Cena be *Ernest*. Why is Ernest suddenly back and being played by a completely different person with a completely different accent? NOBODY KNOWS, now stop breaking kayfabe!
