I'm always amused when White people are incredulous that Black folks are having conversations on social media which they haven't observed. We've been having conversations *in the same room as you* unbeknownst to White observers for as long as Whiteness has existed. It's practically a cultural value.

I very much miss listening to Black Twitter. I learned stuff.

Yea I learned that I don't wash my legs (I do.) I learned I drink mayonnaise slurp it down cuz I loves me mayonnaise. I learned that I am both crafty with evil but stupid with hate. It's a educational experience.

If that's everything you learned from being in Black spaces, you were only paying attention to posts that you felt certain were about you to begin with. That's not how you learn, bud.
Avatar
"If that's everything." It wasn't. That was the funny bits.
Avatar
Pick up the mic, you're not doing a pithy mic drop on me here with "thats not how you learn bud" get your shit together and get out.

This isn't your space. You're replying to someone else's comment. I'll leave if the OP asks me to, without a moment's hesitation. For now, this is a "bros don't let bros be racist garbage" kind of situation.

Systemic and structural racism isn't a joke.

You didn't present them as funny. Your tone is coming off as resentful and petty, and I think that tone is going to get reflected back at you.
Avatar
I agree it's an education, but I don't think you learnt anything.

Found out what finna means that was worth something.

this sounds like it was a deeply sexual experience for you

You appear to have missed the point of every single thing you "learned". Why are you whining at Black people on here instead of doing the work of self exploration and understanding, to root out your prejudices?

Ah so you were trying to be funny and failed. Well done. In the words of @scalzi.com "The failure mode of funny is asshole." Don't blame other people for your own mistakes.

It's true. It is educational. I learn a lot too. Keep learning, my friend!

That last bit sounds extremely true in this case, very little of what you're saying here is smart

I’m not a Black person, just came here to say that the sense of outrage I’ve seen from some white people about not being centered in or having access to every conversation is alarming
Avatar
Same, my friend. We don't see it unless a white person loses their shit at a Black person in front of us. It's like, oh this is who you were the whole time! Wow. Okay. Glad I know. But still.
Avatar
Same. This latest iteration of racism is so brutal & petty & worming its way back into systems that seemed to be getting better.❤️‍🩹 . I’m glad Black sky or wherever Black folks are gathering is there, and I hope gives them peace & comradeship in seriously troubled times.

We don't even have to code-switch all the time. People just aren't listening (it CAN'T be that important on the first round, it can't be THEIR canary in the coal mine) so they miss what we said anyway.

We can have entire conversations without exchanging a word, just looks 😂 Being black is 🔥
