imho the issue isn't reporters quoting nazis like this, it's reporters quoting nazis without contextualizing the quote for readers in the way the preceding two grafs do.
it's the difference between the quote serving as "possibly true, who's to say?" and "ah, so she is both gross *and* dishonest."
