“I love America like Anthony Bourdain or Woody Guthrie did” is the phrasing I’ve settled on
Not to be corny but I do think the ongoing aspiration to make America a pluralist democracy of equals is righteous, beautiful, and worth honoring, even if it has more often been the struggle of minorities & dissenters than the policy of the government. 🇺🇸

The “promissory note” line of the I have a dream speech slaps. Not a more patriotic speech in the game

To root the entire speech in terms of the Declaration of Independence and the Gettysburg Address was a fantastic choice. His dream truly was “deeply rooted in the American dream”

This is a great analogy. Bourdain was a lot like Guthrie in that he was part "his job" and part Philosopher and had a gift for conveying meaning that few people are blessed with.
