Not 100% but I THINK Texas & TX companies built them to grab "their share" of government subsidies in green energy. They also cut corners and cheaped out, which has led to failures they then point at to gloat about how bad windmills are and how much we still need oil.

Windmills drive down real estate value THAT much?! Wow, I support them even more than I already did, now!
NEW: I explain how a throwaway line about windmills in Project 2025 shows there's absolutely no way Trump wasn't directly involved in crafting the fascist plan. www.thehandbasket.co/p/trump-wind...

The court ruled the president immune to criminal prosecution. The same court will still gleefully declare anything Biden does that they don't like unconstitutional, as they did his opening stab at student loan debt.
Avatar
According to Trump, based on no particular evidence, Biden may be taking performance-enhancing drugs. If there's drugs that make presidents better at being presidents, they should be mandatory for all presidents. Governing isn't a sport, it's a very important job.

I'm imagining them being in the corners, long enough to collide with each other but doing a beautifully orchestrated dance to provide very rapid, 100% coverage...under laboratory conditions only.

probably. "Cybertruck 2.0 - this time, the windows are *actually* unbreakable! honest! We wouldn't lie about that twice, would we? Also, it comes with 300% more windshield wipers!"
Avatar
people will inevitably mock the quadwipers, revealing themselves to be basic bitches who don't appreciate genius when they see it.
Avatar
look, if they'd just let the free market do it's thang, they'd have identified all these flaws by the time the cybertruck 2.0 rolls out with it's own equally vast but completely different set of safety concerns, gawd!

with the Lego double-points thing starting, decided to go ahead and order the UCS AT-AT I'm planning to build after I tear down the UCS Falcon. I *may* have also impulsively bought the to-be-discontinued Mos Eisley and Landspeeder sets 👀

my 15-year-old lab Rosie always chooses to lay in major traffic paths. Whole room to choose from, dog beds everywhere, nope, this one bottleneck between the living room and the kitchen is perfect!

Looks great! I really need to get back to work on my chinese restaurant, impulsed several big kits and let myself get distracted by the meditative low-brain-effort bliss of just following instructions xD Got the interior layout worked out tho, need to start deciding on the facade and source bricks.

"People don't want to participate in polls, and when they do they often lie, so we tweaked the Lie-o-matic 9000 to pretend to be them by training it on their internet comments which are definitely 100% not lies." cool plan, bro.

yeah, uhm, no? That's not why it failed? It failed because it has no actual understanding, it simply said "conservatives pro-war, liberals anti-war," and has no concept of WHY these are usually the case, no concept that the motives of war matter, no actual understanding...
Avatar
sure, up-to-date training data could've let it give more accurate-seeming answers, but it still wouldn't understand why, it would just revise it's rule "liberals oppose war except war X" and would still be useless for predicting things that haven't already happened.

This week I plan to start reverse-assembling my UCS Millennium Falcon, going through the manual in reverse and re-bagging the pieces in something close to the original packaging. Will be exhaustively photo-documenting the process as I go. Then time to find it a new home, and buy myself the UCS AT-AT

I'm pointing to the fact that I resisted the pedantic impulse to question your assumptions and instead just came back 10m later to shake my head at other people who failed that resistance check and I'm calling it "growth." xD

lid down is the actually correct answer. I hate that public bathrooms don't even have them. Lid should be closed before you flush!

I love my fellow neurodivergent people, but there is a nasty tendency around the edges online towards dehumanizing and othering neurotypicals. We're all just people doing the best we can.

Do you accept novel crypto I just invented for the specific purpose of paying you?
Avatar
That sounds suspiciously like long-term planning. I thought we'd all agreed never to do that anymore.

did we just reinvent the military industrial complex? My god... ...we're gonna be SO RICH

surely they should cater to broader tastes than just that... one chewbacca, two ewoks, or five assorted droids.
Avatar
the droid option is a real crap shoot, since you don't get to pick - maybe you get 2 r2 units and three protocol droids, or maybe you get 5 pit droids. Not to knock the pit droids, but sometimes a thing can be *too* efficient, if ya' know what I mean...
Avatar
I know what you mean but on a completely unrelated note, encountering the word "mote" triggered flashbacks to the much-abused-in-fanfic phrase, "so mote it be." :shudder:

Real Zoolander, "But why male models?" energy here. I hear you slept through most of the trial, but surely your lawyers had a legal aid summarize the trial in your preferred bullet-point format for you each day?

So lucky I learned about MILS plates before I got too deep into my city, built almost all of my city modulars directly onto them the first time! Transferring my Natural History Museum to one was painful, but 100% worth it!
