Great tip for anyone who spends a lot of time in wild places, where there's a risk of picking up ticks: get yourself a ' Swedish Tick Lasso Trix'. They really work, removing the entire tick and leaving nothing embedded (so no risk of Lyme). Best 10 euro you'll ever spend. 🌎

I just saw an interview with a male fantasy author where he said "I guess I haven't really written female protagonists because it's not really something I feel like I can write from a place of knowledge." Reader, this man wrote a series with a whole ass ancient dragon as their protagonist. 🙄

Last night in Skibbereen we were treated to the premiere of The Stonewall Builder by Liz Clarke, an autobiographical musical of lesbian life as an American in West Cork. Such a good night followed by pints with old friends. I love this place.

OMG OMG Spotted a small bird on top of one of the yellow pipeline markers. Brain scrambles to both tell dad to stop before we scare it and trying frantically to ID it cause we are going to scare it. It spooks and lands just on the other side of the pipeline ditch. A BURROWING OWL! 🪶

Delighted to see that some of the Rockforest pines I planted are now starting to seed themselves, with tiny cones developing. For now, Rockforest (Co. Clare) remains Ireland's sole known population of indigenous pine. They seem happy out in Beara! 🌏

The DC Dyke March was hundreds of dykes, ALL MASKED, 100% MASKING, marching through the streets of DC against genocide in Palestine in 60+% humidity and 90ish degree heat, including disabled dykes of all kinds. Organizers, you CAN make masking mandatory for events. It’ll work.

I don't think I saw a single person with a mask when I was at pride on the 2nd. I haven't seen anyone, even immuno compromised queers wearing a mask in like a year. I aint wearing a mask in 100 degree weather if the people I'm worried about arent taking the same precautions.

Lock down impulse buy that has proved its worth? Large silicon ice cube tray. Makes gin so much easier.
