That was a big part of the plot in David Gerrold's time travel novel "The Man Who Folded Himself," which came out decades ago. ;) A very strange but very creative read.

He's not the first to go down that peculiar path, Robert A. Heinlein's story "All you zombies" went that way in 1959.
