Republicans have become indistinguishable from cartoon villains. "Louisiana lawmakers vote to remove lunch breaks from child workers." Rep. Roger Wilder, R-Denham Springs, said he filed the bill "because children want to work without having to take lunch breaks." www.nola.com/news/politic...

You see, the incredibly small sample of actual people included in this "vast majority of Americans" is people they deem to be "real Americans." You know, millionaires and billionaires.

He means what they always mean: “Americans all want higher fees for Them, because They deserve to suffer” and any given week the part of Them could be played by any group of people real or imaginary who are pointedly not Us until it’s too late.

I can attest to the truth here. Kids at fast food restaurants don’t want to take a lunch because that would cut into their cleaning time, which would mean more work to do after closing and a later finish time. That’s why adults are supposed to protect kids from their own worst impulses.

Biden has to compile a list of these wacko repub votes and do a side-by-side ad with his many achievements. "While I was canceling student debt..."

"I want to work without having to take breaks" is something I have absolutely never, ever heard any child say. And if I heard one of them say such a thing, I would assume they were some sort of very small political or corporate agent.

Children also want to be paid in candy bars. WHAT'S YOUR FUCKING POINT ROGER?
Avatar
I'm willing to bet that switching from paying them in dollars per hour to the same number of candy bars per hour would see labour costs rise, so that's a non starter.
Avatar
The law won’t specify the type or size of candy bar so the children will be paid in fun-size mounds bars left over from last year’s Halloween.
Avatar
As long as it costs the company more to procure even old Mounds bars than whatever the minimum wage for children is, labour costs will rise. At least in Canada, I don't think you can find any type of chocolate bar that will retail for less than a dollar, so unless they buy them wholesale...

No doubt, next, "the dog asked to be shot."

A matryoshka of masks being shed. How many more before their voters abandon them? just kidding, they never will

The Onion would not run with this as they would deem it to extreme and crass.

What the fuck I mean seriously WHY?

Wilder owns Smoothie King franchises across the south. "He questioned why Louisiana has the (lunch break) requirement while other states where he owns Smoothie King locations, such as Mississippi, don't have them."
Avatar
"Why can't we be more like Mississippi?" isn't something you hear a lot in other statehouses.

I always used to laugh when my husband's boss, who was from Alabama, dissed Mississippi and made jokes about it.

The market price of teen labor is $15.50 and lobbying for this is a form of ineffective coping behavior for employers addicted to cheap labor.
