More #summerofcomics by @cloudscapecomics.bsky.social This was on my list already so decided to fill the Western slot. I read Green Blood by Masasumi Kakizaki. Two brothers who are the sons of immigrants live in Five Points and eventually set out on a trail of revenge.

I see we've reached the "famous artist credibly accused of sexual assault wasn't actually a great artist and you're a chump for liking him" phase. Consider that pretending terrible people can't make great art helps terrible people who make great art whedon their way into vulnerable communities.

the GOP wants to illegalize big tiddy goth girls and dragon vore, and I can think of nothing less American than that
Tell every person you know that the GOP wants to ban porn. Let them imagine a hellscape where they both have no human rights and no legal sources of weird smut to drown their sorrows in

Doing #summerofcomics by @cloudscapecomics.bsky.social . I read a mystery manga called "Museum - The Serial Killer is Laughing in the Rain." in which a detective investigates a murder that threatens his family. It's a short mystery, 23 chapters 3 volumes.

Gaëtan Dugas was a sexually active, gay, French-Canadian airhost. He was diagnosed so early, he participated in a study to prove HIV was sexually transmitted. (Yes, this was WAY back.) Gaëtan kept an address book (people used to do that), and the researchers used it for contact tracing.

But this was misinterpreted as a zero by a different research group down the line. And the narrative of an out-of-control (and foreign, and flamboyant) super-spreader was just just too delicious for the media to resist. Full doc here. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jamd...

Happy 4th of July!
Hey it's me, Sonic the Hedgehog! Is America truly free if police routinely harass and murder people of color for simply existing in public spaces? Are we free to pursue happiness if millions of people are one missed paycheck or hospital visit away from homelessness? Liberty and Justice for who?

honestly hate that every time there's an industry bad actor, lists of "works by marginalized authors to support instead" start circulating like it's a moral obligation to be done out of guilt, & it's crickets every other day of the year. my art is not to be taken in as a reactionary measure

I wanna add that immigration situations are very varied depending on how you are coming in, and from where if you are looking at this as a non-American. Friends' SO is coming from Brazil and they're on Day 30 of a supposed 20 day process. Choose the province wisely but all have pros and cons.

Always a new buzz term. IP Maximalism is just code for "I want to take your shit, profit from it and copyright it for myself." The AI argument always goes like this but then they whine and cry about not being able to literally copyright someone's else's work. ffuccckkk offffff

Over the weekend, I found a tiny pink plastic shoe on the ground near my office. I placed it at eye level, on a wooden post, by the stairs. This morning, on that same post, was this picture.

My goal for getting through hard times is to wring every ounce of pleasure out of what is ridiculous. There are so, so many ridiculous things in life. Someone posted a photo of a pregnant squirrel. I laughed for five minutes. Look at her.

Took me a while to get it Glazed, but Holly McCrea and I made a comic for Hindsight 2020, a free zine, about what the future must remember and learn from 2020. Despite what some may say, yes artists did write about COVID. liannewright.itch.io/hindsight-2020 #art #comics #COVID
