Bit late but that’s what I read in May. Pretty mixed bag tbh. Thanks to @backlisted.bsky.social for the Packer tip, definitely one of the highlights of the month’s reading.

What I read in April, of which the Simon and the Berlin were favourites, honourable mention McCarthy.

What I read in February, augmented by Faith, Hope & Carnage by Nick Cave & Sean O’Hagan on audio. Only one from the @backlisted.bsky.social pile, but some quality reading. Standard Deviation my favourite this month.

@backlisted.bsky.social hi, is there a plan to update the index page on the website? Currently stops at Graham Greene. Thanks!

@iammilliam.bsky.social seeing the basic flavour of your best albums of the year, if you haven’t heard the new one by the Lilac Time may I point that in your direction? It’s a thing of melancholic wonder.

What I read in November. Strong recommendation for Sabrina, and the usual thanks to @backlisted.bsky.social for pointing me towards Sprawson and that particular Bradbury.

Shane MacGowan’s music makes me happier than almost anyone else’s. The excitement of hearing the opening track of any of the first three albums has never left me, and I can’t see that changing. Unpredictable live, but when they were good they were great. RIP.

What I read in October. W&P “a big baggy monster” alright, but also a rattling good read, to my pleasant surprise. Unsure of feelings re end of actual narrative and occasionally found my eyes glassing over at the more intricate (repetitive?) philosophy-of-history bits but mere quibbles.

What I read in September, the Salter and the Sagan read in situ while visiting Nice for the RWC. An early treat from Rupert Thomson, who’s always worth reading. Thanks to @backlisted.bsky.social for putting me on to A Sport & a Pastime.
End of feed.
