Two elections in a row a Nigel Farage led third party has taken enough votes in England to send a large number of seats to the Tories (2019) or Labour/Lib Dems (2024). In 2019 the Brexit Party stood tactically and won no seats, in 2024 Reform didn't and won 5. That is something to be worried about.

If, as Lord Ashcroft's polls says, Labour achieve a landslide victory on a vote share less than they had in 2017, then their victory is a function of the FPTP system rather than enthusiasm for their policy platform. Somehow that seems very undemocratic.

The Financial Times has backed the only economically sane option in the UK's imminent general election: A vote for Labour. These 4 graphs say it all. The historically inescapable fact is that 14 years of Tory govt, driven mad by Brexit, have been a disaster for UK prosperity. on.ft.com/4eHFChN

I've just listened to Paul Johnson's speech on R4's WATO. He's bludgeoning both major parties for not saying how they'll pay for their fully costed policies, nor having detail on how they mitigate if they don't get the growth they forecast. He's one step away from saying they're dishonest.

Cooking dinner! Watching the 2h QT debate on Th night I like that the leaders had to take questions unaided for 30min each. Slogans don't stretch and there's nowhere to hide. What I did notice was that each leader understands the problem and has a destination but no detailed plan to connect them.

A fascinating take, in that, if true, would mean, if we accept the account that Badenoch presents, would mean every single British prime minister from Walpole to Eden had the wrong idea about how to improve British power and prosperity.

@dysonlogos.bsky.social Hi. I saw your Rathenau's Lakeside Tower and it reminded me of a real castle by the sea, Portencross Castle. It's a wee tower house from the 11th century. There's also another about 2mi away on Wee Cumbrae. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portenc...

@menion.bsky.social Hi. I enjoyed the latest podcast. On looking for a vanilla game, have you had a look at "Over the Wall and Other Adventures"? A modern take on the old game with a few interesting ways of generating adventures.

@menion.bsky.social I've enjoyed all your recent episodes of "Confessions of a wee timorous bushi". The walk & talk is a good format. I'm not familiar with Dark Sun at all but I'm very curious about what's happening in your adventure and what is different and special about the setting.
