Not a victim, Fay. You just lost your seat. You sobbed. You say the campaign lost its way courting Reform. Did you vote for the Rwanda plan? Did you shed a tear for migrants? I sobbed into a glass of wine, my phone melted down: the story of losing as a Tory MP www.standard.co.uk/comment/elec...
I sobbed into a glass of wine, my phone melted down: the story of losing as a Tory MPwww.standard.co.uk “Don’t let them see you cry,” is the kind advice from my Labour opponent. We’re standing in a small huddle; gathered around the Returning Officer as she briefs us on the votes counted in my former con...

LOL. Her campaign letter (my area) signed off with, "Only a vote for me is a vote to get on with sending asylum claimants to Rwanda".

Jones also referred to Starmer as a "lefty lawyer". Go figure.

I prefer to think of it as Democracy in action. 😆

Like a good Tory, she voted to restrict our protest rights, to add ID to vote, to dump sewage in rivers, etc, etc, etc. Are we supposed to feel sympathy? I can not muster any.

Voted for the Rwanda plan at every stage, it seems. Bye, fucko.

Me, me me. Just a glance at her voting record ought to wipe away her sense of entitlement. Contrition is for others, it seems. Get a job and ditch the self-pity.
Avatar
Yeah, no sympathy. She supported the Rwanda policy and opposed trade unions, like a good little Tory MP. She supported landowners and landlords, and undermined renters. She supported the party line and lost sight of the constituents.

'“Don’t let them see you cry,” is the kind advice from my Labour opponent...' Anyway, here's 500 words for a national paper about me crying"

I actually don't agree with this advice, even. I think crying in public should be normalised.

Anyone else raise an eyebrow re her claim that she was able to go into the pub next door to the count venue and order a glass of wine at 6.20 a.m., or just me?
Avatar
Spoons innit. Owned by a Tory too.
Avatar
Or maybe an agreement with the pub to stay open for all the people spending their night doing their duty.
Avatar
The returning officers and vote counters certainly deserve refreshment.
Avatar
Don't think the licensing authorities would be too thrilled about such an arrangement (not if the pub was selling booze outside of their normal licensed hours, as the former MP claims, at any rate).
Avatar
There's a Wetherspoons in Brecon that opens at 7am
Avatar
Just imagine her sitting on their front step crying waiting for them to open.
Avatar
Given that the count and announcement was at the Royal Welsh Showground, it looks like the nearest pub is over half a kilometre away.

That bit about crusty knitted jumpers had me saying in my mum's voice "ooooooh, Tottie Fay!"

Also she was only there for one parliament, 4 years. Not like she was the MP for 25 years.
Avatar
Avatar
Sorry no sympathy. A victim? No. She chose her own actions. She voted for a decline of our country including in international standing. She also doesn't sound a particularly nice person. No thanks to her staff and a nasty dig at the winner. Good riddance to her
Avatar
"What am I qualified for?" That's a sad indictment of the years spent in politics if she's went in and came away not qualified for anything.
Avatar
Not any old wine though! Oh no, a glass of 1959 Dom Perignon!
Avatar
What an awful piece. She's rude, self-pitying and vile. She won't be missed.

Not sure what Jay @notjobloggs.bsky.social means in first 12 letters. (Powell I see clearly enough, but how does "sets" fit in?...) ... but the rest: indeed (on refugees & migrants, the poor, the lives complicated, lost businesses, wrongfully arrested, the needlessly, wilfully killed of COVID...):
Bad-Enoch sets Tories who Lost their seats are ‘traumatised’. She’s totally unconcerned about the trauma her lot has caused the Nation.

Typo. Should be ‘says’

Would take a heart of stone...
