This may be true. However, people do not like doing an act for safety when it bothers them. We all know helmets prevent catastrophic head injuries and death, and yet because one doesn't often SEE the benefit, people fought against such laws pissing and moaning the whole way. Seatbelts too.

A lot of people who don’t want to mask associate masks with the fear we all felt at the start of the pandemic. I get that! But you need to adjust your mindset to the reality: you should feel SAFER when wearing a mask—because YOU ARE. I’m much less fearful of Covid when I’m protecting myself!
