Homeless people can be arrested for sleeping, Presidents cannot be arrested for rampant graft and corruption done while in office. There is no clearer a summary of "conservative 'law and order'" than this.

The lawsuits against @archive.org aim to achieve for the written, published word that books (and music), in the Internet era, become transient, owned only and forever by their publishers. None of this permanent-part-of-culture nonsense!
Did you catch the story about the Wayback Machine on CBS News Sunday Morning? 🌞 David Pogue chatted with @brewster.kahle.org about archiving the web, and the lawsuits from publishers & the recording industry that threaten our mission & your access to information. Watch: cbsnews.com/news/the-way...

A new, lovely book appeared recently - "Infinite Life" by @juleshoward.bsky.social. It's about eggs and the evolution of life, and if you liked "Otherlands", you'll enjoy this one as well. It's Thurmodynamics Thersday or something. Actually: Maxwell's birthday, so here's a short note on the 2nd law.
Happy birthday to #physicist James Clerk Maxwell (1831-1879)! 🧪🐡🎢🧮 #histsci He dreamt up his demon to deal with the very odd 2nd Law of Thermodynamics (which is not a law like others, & can not be derived from first priciples). It states that 2 bodies of different temperature 🧵1/n

Dear #ClassicsBlueSky, I'm not on here a lot, but I'm going to try this anyway. For a new project, I'm doing stats analysis on Flavian lit, and I need PDF's of the Latin, not translations. I have Pliny, Quint, Martial, Statius, but need more. Before I scan my life away - who can help? Thanks!
