On the other hand, the end of Chevron deference & the GOP ratfucking of the administrative state means that any future Democratic presidential victory is now only a Pyrrhic victory.

It still goddamn beats the alternative and gives us way more levers to fight with.

I agree with your larger point about doomerism, but you can't also be all "clap harder" when we have some very negative outcomes, as losing Chevron deference will be. As Gramsci said, "Pessimism of the intellect, optimism of the will."

No, I agree with you that, all things being equal, Democrats are better for pulling the levers of the administrative state, but with the end of Chevron deference, we are going to have a lot fewer levers. I'm not trying to be doomerist. I'm just trying to have a reality-based responses.

no one is saying you’re supposed calm down and think it’s not that bad the only thing we are saying is that “it’s indeed very bad and it’s OK to feel upset and angry, but that doesn’t mean all is lost and we should give up now, either”

You are supposed to feel bad -- it is bad! It's okay to feel bad! But doomerism is misinformation. There is not a single person alive on earth right now who knows for certain what is in store for us tomorrow, the next day, next week, or next year.
